Want to stand out from the rest of the consultants in your Direct Sales company? Here are 5 simple steps you can do to say Thank You in your Direct Sales business! Don’t be like so many consultants who make the sale and never continue the relationship.
#1 Send a note of thanks. Yes, this should be a handwritten note, if possible. It is so appreciated. When was the last time you got a Thank You note for attending an event, making a purchase or talking to a sales person who helped you (even if you didn’t buy anything)? This little act of gratitude will go miles in your business as you build trust, friendship and connections.
#2 Thank the Hostess. If you’re not saying thank you then you are doing your business a huge disservice. I was inspired by Melissa Fietsam, an SED with my company Thirty-One Gifts (you can check out her awesome blog here) who set up a Hostess VIP club so I now have one for my hostesses. It’s so easy and fun to do. I send my hostesses Happy Mail for a few months following their party. The gifts are fun and corny and are nothing more than to make her smile. My hostesses love it and you bet the referrals are coming in!!
#3 Connect on Social Media. Set up a Facebook event and have your hostess invite her friends. Here are some posts you can do to engage your guests:
Post your Pinterest account name and have the guests comment in various categories and win a prize for participating. You can have them share their favorite pins for party food, games, product uses, the sky’s the limit 🙂
Once a month post on your Facebook profile about a giveaway you’re doing in your customer group and ask your friends to request to join the group for all the details.
#4 Say Thank You to your guests after the party and include all the ways they can keep in touch with you. I like to send a thank you text to the hostess right after the party. The next day I send a thank you text to the party guests and everyone who couldn’t attend but placed an order.
You can also post a thank you note in your hostess’s Facebook event. TIP: Save time by using a template and then just copy/paste it in. It will save you time which will make you and your family very happy. Here’s what I use:

#5 Set up a Birthday Club for your customers and contacts. I have been using Google Forms for my Birthday Club survey and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Click here to give it a whirl, trust me, you’re going to love it too 🙂
Here’s what you do… super simple:
- Open Google
- click on Apps
- Scroll down and click on “More”
- Scroll down and click on “Even More from Google”
- Scroll down and then click on “Home & Office”
- Click on “Google Forms”
Then type in each question and select an answer field (like one where they can write in, multiple choice, etc). You can really make it your own with a super cute theme. Once your survey is made you can preview the form. But what’s ALSO so awesome about Google Forms is that you can open view responses as an Excel spreadsheet. This is such a time saver for those of you who are really busy or aren’t very tech-savvy because all the hard work is done for you already.
OK, here’s one more time-saving, mind-blowing business tip: Open your browser’s Bookmarks and make a new folder for your Birthday Club. Then open the Birthday Club Google Form and bookmark it in the Birthday Club folder. The next time you’re looking for the Birthday Club link just open Bookmarks, find the Folder and there it is. BAM!
